yep, you are right, spunk magnet. this is the thunderdome. i just think you are a horses ass for using it to attack a person who has put many years into this event. you take small portions of a quote, out of context, and use it to make her look bad for your own ammusement. most likely, she was in the middle of typing up a very long jrs or other such thing and didnt properly edit it. where i, on one hand, think its quaint, you, on the other, use it to humiliate and demean. sorry there is no other way i can interpret "the stupid shit".

if this forum (thunderdome) is going to be used just to attack people, (most especially folks who arent here to defend themselves) as you have, maybe i dont want to be here.

Maid Marian is one of about 20 people who are PAID to put on the event. It's her full time job, unlike the thousands of other people who VOLUNTEER their time to make this event happen. This is why people get a little pissed when she does things like, suggest that they go on a $400 cruise rather than attend the L.A. Decompression party.

Maid Marian is the "Mistress of Communications" (I'm pretty sure she gave herself that title) and she has a B.A. in Creative Writing! Excuse me if I fault her for her inability to effectively communicate. I'm sorry if you feel that her own words make her look bad. Perhaps she should have the editor of the JRS, Action Girl (another full time, paid employee), proof read it for her.

I would like to say that I don't really know Marian personally. I've met her a few times and she seems like a lovely human being with great leadership qualities. I enjoy giving her and the rest of the LLC's paid staff "the business" because they take themselves so god dammed seriously.

I'm sorry, Grumpy. I agree that MM does a lot of relentless and thankless work for Burning Man. I believe she *is* Burning Man. (Ask me now, I'll tell you how). To that end, she must oversee and manage the event operations on a multitude of levels. As Chai has said, she is a lovely human being with great leadership qualities.

But to not properly edit an official BM communique and sign her name to it as the Manager of Communications for the LLC can lead to some problems. Now that BM is becoming a mainstream commercial event that is family friendly, she may want to check her language.
